Family Storytelling Day
On Family Storytelling Day 2007 families around the UK embarked on a quest to get to know a little more about their ancestors, their family, and maybe a little more about themselves. Families are jam-packed with stories that bind them together. Stories of people, places and of shared experiences.

The idea behind Family Storytelling Day is very simple. All you have to do is gather members of your family together (as many generations as possible), turn off the TV, get out the family photo-albums, heirlooms and keepsakes, and share the stories that you know about the people in the pictures, dead and alive.
Tell stories of:
- what they got up to
- what their lives were like
- their sayings and jokes
- their party tricks and turns
- how you remember them best
These stories, whether serious or funny, sad or strange, are all part of the shared and unique history of your family.

And that’s not all. You can cook a meal together, revive family recipes and gourmet secrets and share a feast. Lay a place at the table for a revered ancestor, and even make a shrine in their honour, decorated with things they would have liked.
November the 2nd is the Mexican festival of the Day of the Dead. It’s a chance to bring your ancestors back to life for the evening and remember to tell us what you did.
