Friday 1st October, day 2 of StoryQuest and 1,800 children descend on the Glasgow Concert Hall. By the end of the day, a quick show of hands shows that over one third of the children present would like to become authors, a poet or a storyteller.

"One of the reasons I became a writer is because I love playing with words. I love words."
John Foster

"For me writing really is a pleasure. When it's going well, when you're on a roll, it's brilliant. I don't know how it happens. It's like small creatures in my beard are doing the writing for me."
Philip Ardagh

"The two bits of writing stories that I love are dreaming and weaving the tale together in my head and then receiving the finished book through the post. The bit in between is murder!"
Michael Morpurgo
